Carpentry Apprenticeship
Train4All working in conjunction with Somerset Skills and Learning, Strode College and City & Guilds are pleased to be able to offer a Carpentry Apprenticeship for young people aged 16-25 years who are employed within industry. In partnership with employers, we aim to ensure that young people undertake quality training both in the workplace and at our local training centres in Chard and Glastonbury.
Level 2 Apprenticeship
This two-year programe will lead to an NVQ Level 2 in Site Carpentry, a City and Guilds Diploma and Key/Functional Skills. Typical units studied are:
- Safe working practices in construction
- Construction methods and technology
- Interpret Drawings
- Carry out first fixing operations
- Carry out second fixing
- Erect structural carcassing
- Carry out maintenance
- Set up and operate a circular saw
The programme will be attended via day-release to the training centre where theory and practical skills will be taught by our qualified teaching staff, all of which are still working within industry. The remainder of your week will be with your employer gaining valuable work experience.
